Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. Humdrum(Adjective)फीका
Meaning: Lacking excitement or variety
Synonym: Dull, boring, monotonous
Antonym: Remarkable, exciting
Usage: No matter how humdrum is your life without a job, once you get it things will go fine.

2. Axiomatic(Adjective)सिद्ध
Meaning: self-evident or unquestionable.
Synonym: Understood, Given, Granted, self-evident
Antonym: Misunderstood, uncertain
Usage: The arithmetic principles are axiomatic in nature.

3. Connivance(Noun)देखी-अनदेखी
Meaning: Secretly involved in immoral or illegal activity.
Synonym: Involvement, assistance, conspiracy, intrigue
Antonym: Disapprobation, rejection, dislike
Usage: With the connivance of the government, the Indian army planned a surgical strike.

4. STENTORIAN (adjective) बुलंद
Meaning: (of a person’s voice) loud and powerful.
Synonyms: blaring, clamorous, piercing, resounding.
Antonyms: peaceful, serene, soothing, tranquil.
Usage: When my father speaks in a stentorian voice, I know I’m in trouble.
5. Hoodwink(Verb)धोखा देना
Meaning: Deceive or trick
Synonym: Outwit, fool, swindle
Antonym: Undeceive, protect
Usage: Beware of the fake calls that try to hoodwink you into giving your bank details.
6. Disenfranchise(Verb)नागरिकता से वंचित करना
Meaning: Deprive of the right to vote.
Synonym: Opress, shackle, coerce
Antonym: Liberate, release, permit
Usage: Government should disenfranchise the people having the voting identity of two cities/states 
7. Scapegoat(Noun)बलि का बकरा
Meaning: A person who is blamed for the wrongdoings of others
Synonym: Whipping boy, victim
Antonym: Armed man, cocked sparrow
Usage: Rajesh always finds a scapegoat to blame whenever he encountered a problem.
8. COY(Adjective) संकोची 
Meaning: intentionally keeping something secret
Synonyms: bashful, timid
Antonyms: forward, unshy
Usage: She gave me a coy look from under her schoolgirl’s fringe.
9. PROFANE(Adjective)अपवित्र
Meaning: vulgar and inappropriate
Synonyms: coarse, nasty
Antonyms: kind, polite
Usage: The young star’s profane behavior caused his music label to drop him from its roster.

10. Interdict (Noun) पाबंदी
Meaning: an authoritative prohibition, in particular
Synonym: prohibition, ban, bar, veto, prescription,
Antonym: corroborate, support
Usage: Because I failed most of my classes last term, my parents will probably interdict me from working this semester.
