1. Siege [seej]=घेराबंदी
Noun: the act or process of surrounding and attacking a fortified place in such a way as to isolate it from help and supplies, for the purpose of lessening the resistance of the defenders and thereby making capture possible; any prolonged or persistent effort to overcome resistance; a series of illnesses, troubles, or annoyances besetting a person or group.
Synonyms: annoy, bedevil, beset, plague, badger, blockade.

Antonyms: aid, make happy, please, assist, help, soothe.

Example/उदहारण: The anecdote might well be apocryphal.
2. Anecdote [an-ik-doht]=उपाख्यान
Noun: a short account of a particular incident or event, especially of an interesting or amusing nature; a short, obscure historical or biographical account.
Synonyms: episode, gag, narration, narrative, reminiscence, short story.
3. Apocryphal [uh-pok-ruh-fuh l]=शंकायुक्त
Adjective: of doubtful authorship or authenticity; of or relating to the Apocrypha; of doubtful sanction; uncanonical; false; spurious.
Synonyms: fictitious, inaccurate, mythical, unsubstantiated, untrue.
Antonyms: true, authentic, doubtless, real.
Example/उदहारण: What is not is that mainstream media is in deep coma, gasping under pressure not felt even during Emergency’s darkest nights.
4. Mainstream [meyn-streem]=विशेष पक्ष
Noun: the principal or dominant course, tendency, or trend; a river having tributaries; regular school classes or regular schools.
Synonyms: average, common, current, dominant, general, normal, primary, regular.
Antonyms: abnormal, eccentric, exceptional, extraordinary, infrequent, irregular, rare.
Example/उदहारण: What is on today is a sly, insidious operation without anybody’s Aadhaar-linked fingerprints.
5. Sly [slahy]=शातिर
Adjective: cunning or wily; stealthy, insidious, or secret; playfully artful, mischievous, or roguish.
Synonyms: canny, impish, ingenious, intriguing, mischievous, roguish, shrewd, smart, subtle.
Antonyms: behaved, foolish, inept, stupid, honest, open.
6. Insidious [in-sid-ee-uh s]=धोखेबाज
Adjective: intended to entrap or beguile; stealthily treacherous or deceitful; operating or proceeding in an inconspicuous or seemingly harmless way but actually with grave effect.
Synonyms: dangerous, subtle, artful, astute, corrupt, crafty, crooked.
Antonyms: fair, honest, open, sincere.
Example/उदहारण: It is aimed not merely at “managing the headlines” in the newsroom but at paving the way for a lethal ideology that has long craved legitimacy, through the boardroom.
7. Lethal [lee-thuh l]=जानलेवा
Adjective: of, relating to, or causing death; deadly; fatal; a lethal dose; made or carried out to cause death; causing great harm or destruction.
Synonyms: dangerous, destructive, devastating, fatal, harmful, malignant.
Antonyms: harmless, healthy, helpful, kind, wholesome, beneficial.
8. Legitimacy [li-jit-uh-muh-see]=वैधता
Noun: the state or quality of being legitimate(in accordance with established rules, principles, or standards).
Synonyms: appropriate, certain, consistent, correct, fair, genuine, justifiable.
Antonyms: abnormal, affected, counterfeit, deceptive, dishonest, false, illegal.
9. Boardroom [bawrd-room, -roo m, bohrd-]=बैठक का कमरा
Noun: a room set aside for meetings of a board, as of a corporation; a room in a broker’s office where stock-market quotations are listed on a board or by other means.
Synonym: meeting room.
Example/उदहारण: Influential owners, anchors, editors across the nation resemble the hapless Kashmiri tied to the Army jeep.
10. Hapless [hap-lis]=अभागी
Adjective: unlucky; luckless; unfortunate.
Synonyms: unlucky, woeful, behind the eightball, cursed, hexed, ill-fated.
Antonyms: happy, fortuitous, fortunate, lucky, well-off.
