1.Genesis (Noun)=उत्पत्ति

Meaning/अर्थ: the origin or mode of formation of something.


Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: origin, source, root, beginning, commencement, start, outset.

Example/उदाहरण: A reading of Kautilya’s  Arthashastra  will help one understand the genesis of the state and how it needed to legitimise its authority through  the evolution of the police as we know it today. 


2.Abundant (adjective)=प्रचुर/उपलब्ध होना/मात्रा में अधिक होना
Meaning/अर्थexisting or available in large quantities; plentiful.
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: plentiful, copious, ample, profuse, rich, lavish, liberal, generous, bountiful, large, huge, great, bumper, overflowing, superabundant, infinite, inexhaustible, opulent, prolific.
Example/उदाहरणCrime was petty in those days, not requiring any sophisticated methods of investigation and detection. Now, it is  not only widespread and violent but also sophisticated with  the abundant use of technology.

3.Yardstick (noun)=मापदंड
Meaning/अर्थa measuring rod a yard long, typically divided into inches., a standard used for comparison.
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: standard, measure, gauge, scale, guide, guideline, indicator, test, touchstone, barometer, specification, criterion, norm, average, benchmark, point of reference, model, pattern, rule, principle, paradigm, convention, ideal
Example/उदाहरणIt is my conviction that the  police force must  address this fear in a focussed manner. It is my lament that many unenlightened governments in our country do not evaluate police performance by this yardstick.

4.Pliability (noun)=लचक/लचीलापन
Meaning/अर्थthe quality of being easily bent; flexibility.
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: flexibility, pliancy, elasticity, suppleness, malleability, plasticity, springiness, ductility.
Example/उदाहरणIt is my lament that many unenlightened governments in our country do not evaluate police performance by this yardstick. Police pliability to serve political ends rates higher in their agenda.

5. Aloof (adjective)=अलग/दोस्ताना न होना
Meaning/अर्थ: not friendly or forthcoming; cool and distant.
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: distant, detached, unresponsive, remote,
Example/उदाहरण “they were courteous but faintly aloof

6. Allure (noun)=फुसलाना/आकर्षित करना
Meaning/अर्थ : the quality of being powerfully and mysteriously attractive or fascinating.
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: attraction, lure, draw, pull, appeal, glamour
Example/उदाहरण people for whom gold holds no allure”

7.Circumspect (adjective)=चौकस/सावधान होना
Meaning/अर्थ: wary and unwilling to take risks.
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: chary, guarded
Example/उदाहरण “the officials were very circumspect in their statements”

8.Cohesive (adjective)=जोड़नेवाला/सामंजस्य 
Meaning/अर्थ: characterized by or causing cohesion
Synonyms/पर्यायवाचीunited
Example/उदाहरण“a cohesive social unit”

9.Shirk (verb)=भागना/बचना या उपेक्षा करना
Meaning/अर्थ: avoid or neglect (a duty or responsibility).
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: dodge, shun
Example/उदाहरण“I do not shirk any responsibility in this matter”

10.Preoccupation (noun)=अति व्यस्तता
Meaning/अर्थthe state or condition of being preoccupied or engrossed with something.
Synonyms/पर्यायवाची: pensiveness, concentration, engrossment, absorption, self-absorption, musing, thinking, thinking of other things, deep thought, brown study, brooding.
