Solutions:

S1. Ans. (d)
Sol. Going through the statements, (a) talks about some interchangeability which will help in getting income details from a central database. (b) discusses the government’s efforts to make the process of filing tax returns more convenient. And (c) discusses the need of monitoring the central database. (e) is about interlinking of Aadhaar and PAN, and the use of this interchangeability in the ITR filling. So, (a), (b), (c) and (e) all either taking about the interchangeability or ITR filling. Whereas, (d) talks about the linking of Aadhaar with PAN and if PAN is not linked with Aadhaar then PAN will become invalid. There is no mention of ITR filling in (d). So, (d) is the odd one from the given sentences. Hence, option (d) is correct answer choice.

S2. Ans. (b)
Sol. The sentence (a) talks about some iconic sites. Sentence (e) is talking about the 17 iconic sites and the government’s plans to develop these sites for employment purposes. (a) also discusses about the increase in domestic and international tourist visits. And the development of these sites will boost employment opportunities. So, (a) will be followed by (c). As, (d) is talking about the need to look beyond traditional avenues of employment. And tourism is this idea. So, (d) is also linked with (e). As for (b) it is discussing the negative impact of tourism which is not as per the other sentences. Hence, option (b) is correct answer choice.

S3. Ans. (c)
Sol. (a) talks about the impossible dream of $5 trillion economy. (b) is discussing about some “vision thing” which as per the theme of the sentence goes in negative sense. Same is the case for (d) and (e). But, (c) which is talking about the positive impact of the budget, is not as per the theme of the passage. Hence, option (c) is correct answer choice.

S4. Ans. (c)
Sol. Reading through the statements, (d) discusses about the extension of the term of National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAA) up to 30 November 2021. It should be followed by (a) that discusses about the objective of anti-profiteering law. Then (e) talks about the amendments made in the law. (b) discusses one of the failure in the law. All the statements (a), (b), (d) and (e) are either talking about the National Anti-Profiteering Authority or the anti-profiteering law. But, option (c) discusses about the voting rights in GST which is not following the theme of other sentences. So, (c) is the correct answer choice.

S5. Ans. (b)
Sol. The sentences (a), (c), (d) and (e) discusses about the occurrence of crisis in India and the delayed measures taken to tackle the crisis. (e) gives the examples of several crisis. But, only (b) is against the theme. It discusses the right attention given to NBFC sector in the budget. So, option (b) is correct answer choice.

S6. Ans. (d)
Sol. There is a grammatical error in option I, II and III. In (I) the use of ‘have’ there is incorrect instead it should be ‘Had’ because the given sentence is in past tense as can be seen from the use of ‘was’ in the beginning, also the given sentence is in indirect speech.
In option (II), the use of ‘guideline’ is incorrect instead it should be ‘guidelines’ because a plural noun is required to qualify a plural verb.
In option (III), the use of ‘wants’ is incorrect instead it should be ‘want’ because as per the subject-verb agreement, a singular verb is required to qualify a singular subject.
Hence, the correct answer choice is option (d)

S7. Ans. (b)
Sol. There is a grammatical error in option (II) and (III). In (II), the use of ‘span’ is incorrect instead it should be ‘spans’ because as per the subject verb agreement, singular verb is required to qualify the singular subject.
Also in option (III), the use of ‘college’ is incorrect because of the use of determiner ‘several’ which means more than two but not many, hence the plural verb should be used to qualify the given determiner.
Hence, the correct answer choice is option (b)

S8. Ans. (a)
Sol. There is a grammatical error in option (I) and (II). In (I), ‘since’ should not be used here because ‘since’ goes with a moment in time – but a decade is a length of time, not a moment in time, hence it should be omitted.
In option (II), the use of gerund ‘withdrawing’ is incorrect because to + gerund structure is used when ‘to’ is part of ‘a noun + preposition combination’ or when ‘to’ is part of an adjective + preposition combination or a phrasal verb or verb + preposition structure, but here it is ‘to’ + verb structure, hence, the use of gerund is incorrect.
So, the correct answer choice is option (a)

S9. Ans. (b)
Sol. There is grammatical error in option (II) and (III). In option (II), “it’s” is used incorrectly instead it should be “its” because “Its” is the possessive form of the pronoun ‘it’ whereas “It’s” is a contraction, standing for “it is” or “it has.”
Also in option (III), the use of ‘expanding’ is incorrect because to + gerund structure is used when ‘to’ is part of ‘a noun + preposition combination’ or when ‘to’ is part of an adjective + preposition combination or a phrasal verb or verb + preposition structure, but here it is ‘to’ + verb structure, hence, the use of gerund is incorrect.
Hence, the correct answer choice is option (b)

S10. Ans. (e)
Sol. In the given options, there is no grammatical error. Hence, the correct answer choice is option (e)
