Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. PECULIAR (Adjective) : अनोखा
Meaning: different to what is normal or expected; strange.
Synonyms: strange, unusual, curious, abnormal
Antonyms: common, general, indefinite, ordinary
Example: My uncle is a peculiar man who wears the same outfit several days a week.

2. ACQUIT (Verb) : बरी करना 
Meaning: free (someone) from a criminal charge by a verdict of not guilty.
Synonyms: absolve, exonerate, exculpate, vindicate
Antonyms: convict
Example: They always acquit themselves of their duty very well.

3. VALIANT (Adjective) : बहादुर
Meaning: possessing or showing courage or determination.
Synonyms: brave, fearless, courageous, valorous
Antonyms: cowardly, irresolute
Example: Firemen are valiant individuals who put their lives on the line to save others.

4. INEXORABLE (Adjective) : निष्ठुर
Meaning: impossible to stop or prevent.
Synonyms: relentless, unstoppable, unavoidable, inescapable
Antonyms: kind, merciful, sympathetic
Example: The inexorable truth is that Shelley is going to die within six months because she has cancer.

5. EXTOL (Verb) : प्रशंसा करना
Meaning: praise enthusiastically.
Synonyms: eulogize, acclaim
Antonyms: criticize
Example: I got angry when my mother would extol my brother’s accomplishments and ignore all the good things I did.

6. HEDGE (Verb) : बचाव /रोकना
Meaning: limit or qualify (something) by conditions or exceptions.
Synonyms: confine, restrict, limit, hinder, obstruct,
Example: She was hedged in by her imperfect education

7. SPURN (Verb) :  तिरस्कार
Meaning: reject with disdain or contempt.
Synonyms: refuse, decline, reject, rebuff
Antonyms: accept, admire, approve, allow
Example: Even after you spurn this so-called charity’s request for donations, they continue to hound you every week.

8. SUCCOUR (Noun) : परेशानी में सहायता
Meaning: assistance and support in times of hardship and distress.
Synonyms: aid, assistance, support, ease
Example: Even though Holly is painfully shy, she is never hesitant to offer succor to anyone who is in pain.

9. RELEGATE (Verb) : बाहर निकाल देना 
Meaning: assign an inferior rank or position to.
Synonyms: downgrade, banish, exile, degrade
Antonyms: upgrade, promote
Example: If you don’t want your boss to relegate you to the status of unemployed, you’d better watch what you say on social media.

10. PANDER (Verb) : बढ़ावा देना/ ख़ुश करना
Meaning: gratify or indulge (an immoral or distasteful desire or taste or a person with such a desire or taste).
Synonyms: indulge, gratify, fulfill, humour
Antonyms: annoy, frustrate
Example: Because Jim wants his son to value a dollar, he does not pander to his whims by giving him everything he wants.
