1. Autonomous [aw-ton-uh-muh s]=स्वशासी

2. Moot [moot]=विवादास्पद
Adjective: open to discussion or debate; debatable; doubtful; of little or no practical value, meaning, or relevance; purely academic; Chiefly Law. not actual; theoretical; hypothetical.
Verb: to present or introduce (any point, subject, project, etc.) for discussion; to reduce or remove the practical significance of; make purely theoretical or academic; Archaic. to argue (a case), especially in a mock court.
Noun: an assembly of the people in early England exercising political, administrative, and judicial powers; an argument or discussion, especially of a hypothetical legal case.
Synonyms: debatable, problematic, unresolved, unsettled, open, suspect, at issue, contestable.
Antonyms: certain, definite, settled, sure, decided, proven.

Example: The hold of the GJM in the Hills was sought to be broken by reaching out to indigenous communities in the region through the creation of various tribal development boards.

3. Indigenous [in-dij-uh-nuh s]=स्वदेशी
Adjective: originating in and characteristic of a particular region or country; native (often followed by to); innate; inherent; natural (usually followed by to).
Synonyms: domestic, endemic, homegrown, primitive, aboriginal, autochthonous, chthonic, congenital.
Antonyms: alien, foreign.

Example: Legitimate grievances with the West Bengal government on transfer of powers to the GTA aside, the GJM, which has ruled the Authority, too has been guilty of lackadaisical administration.

4. Grievance [gree-vuh ns]=शिकायत
Noun: a wrong considered as grounds for complaint, or something believed to cause distress; a complaint or resentment, as against an unjust or unfair act.
Synonyms: grief, hardship, injustice, objection, outrage, resentment, sorrow, unhappiness, affliction.
Antonyms: delight, happiness, joy, advantage, aid, assistance, benefit, blessing.

5. Lackadaisical [lak-uh-dey-zi-kuh l]=भावुक
Adjective: without interest, vigor, or determination; listless; lethargic; lazy; indolent.
Synonyms: apathetic, halfhearted, laid-back, lazy, lethargic, listless, passive
Antonyms: active, energetic, interested, lively, careful, caring.

Example: For its part, the BJP is caught in a bind — it seems to be sympathetic to the statehood demand, allied as it is to the GJM in the Hills, but is afraid to articulate it openly as it has ambitions in the rest of the State.

6. Bind [bahynd]=बांधना
Verb: to fasten or secure with a band or bond; to encircle with a band or ligature; to swathe or bandage.
Synonyms: crunch, dilemma, pickle, predicament, quandary, difficulty.
Antonyms: solution, pleasure.

7. Allied [uh-lahyd, al-ahyd]=सम्बद्ध
Adjective: joined by treaty, agreement, or common cause; related; kindred.
Synonyms: affiliated, amalgamated, associated, bound, combined, confederate, connected.
Antonyms: disconnected, single, uncombined, unrelated, disunited, estranged, unfriendly.

8. Articulate [adjective, noun ahr-tik-yuh-lit; verb ahr-tik-yuh-leyt]=स्पष्ट
Adjective: uttered clearly in distinct syllables; capable of speech; not speechless; using language easily and fluently; having facility with words.
Synonyms: coherent, eloquent, expressive, fluent, well-spoken, clear, comprehensible, definite.
Antonyms: inarticulate, misrepresented, unclear, unintelligible.

Example: Earlier this month the government had also held a cabinet meeting in the Hills after many years, drawing a sharp response from the GJM and other separatist political forces that saw this as a ploy to undermine the GTA’s authority.

9. Separatist [sep-er-uh-tist, -uh-rey-]=संप्रदायवादी
Noun: a person who separates, withdraws, or secedes, as from an established church; an advocate of separation, especially ecclesiastical or political separation.
Adjective: of, relating to, or designating separatism or separatists.
Synonyms: dissident, protester, rebel, heretic, nonconformist, objector.

10. Ploy [ploi]=चाल
Noun: a maneuver or stratagem, as in conversation, to gain the advantage.
Verb: Military Archaic. to move (troops) from a line into a column.
Synonyms: device, maneuver, ruse, scheme, stratagem, subterfuge, tactic, artifice.
