1. Muzzle [muhz-uh l] :थूथन, बन्दूक का मुहं
Noun: the mouth, or end for discharge, of the barrel of a gun, pistol, etc; the projecting part of the head of an animal, including jaws, mouth, and nose; a device, usually an arrangement of straps or wires, placed over an animal’s mouth to prevent the animal from biting, eating, etc.
Verb: to put a muzzle on (an animal or its mouth) so as to prevent biting, eating, etc; to restrain from speech, the expression of opinion, etc.
Synonyms: gagged, quieted.

Example: The Indian Coast Guard on Tuesday rescued 14 fishermen whose boat had developed a snag and was adrift in the high seas.

2. Snag [snag] : एक नदी में लटकी हुई पेड़ की टहनी
Noun: a tree or part of a tree held fast in the bottom of a river, lake, etc., and forming an impediment or danger to navigation; a short, projecting stump, as of a branch broken or cut off; any sharp or rough projection.
Verb: to run or catch up on a snag; to damage by so doing; to obstruct or impede, as a snag does.
Synonyms: barrier, bug, crunch, difficulty, disadvantage, drawback, glitch, hitch, holdup, hurdle, impediment.
Antonyms: advantage, aid, assistance, benefit, blessing.

3. Adrift [uh-drift] : बिना नियंत्रण के बहना
Adjective: floating without control; drifting; not anchored or moored; lacking aim, direction, or stability.
Synonyms: afloat, drifting, loose, unanchored, unmoored.
Antonyms: anchored, determined, on course, on target, purposeful.

Example: With Chennai as his second home, he mentored T.N. BJP.

4. Mentor [men-tawr, -ter] :गुरु
Noun: a wise and trusted counselor or teacher; an influential senior sponsor or supporter.
Verb: to act as a mentor.
Synonyms: coach, counsel, guide, instruct, edify, educate, explain, teach, tutor.
Antonyms: hinder, inhibit.

Example: If Venkaiah Naidu rose from near Nellore and made his mark in New Delhi, his second home was . Mr. Naidu’s daughter is based in the southern metropolis and his wife has lived here for several years.

5. Metropolis [mi-trop-uh-lis] : कोई बड़ा विकसित शहर
Noun: any large, busy city; the chief, and sometimes capital, city of a country, state, or region; a central or principal place, as of some activity; the mother city or parent state of a colony, especially of an ancient Greek colony.
Synonyms: capital, downtown, municipality, megalopolis, metropolitan area.

Example: Several States affected by monsoon fury.

6. Fury [fyoo r-ee] : रोष, क्रोध
Noun: unrestrained or violent anger, rage, passion, or the like; violence; vehemence; fierceness.
Synonyms: acrimony, energy, ferocity, frenzy, furor, indignation, intensity, ire, madness, passion.
Antonyms: calm, calmness, glee, happiness, inactivity.

Example: People die in floods and lightning strikes; train services cancelled; reservoirs and catchments overflow.

7. Catchment [kach-muh nt] : जलग्रह
Noun: the act of catching water; something for catching water, as a reservoir or basin; the water that is caught in such a catchment.

Example: Water woes: Students wade through a flooded street in Ahmedabad.

8. Woe [woh] : हाय
Noun: grievous distress, affliction, or trouble; an affliction.
Synonyms: adversity, anguish, burden, calamity, catastrophe, disaster, gloom, hardship, headache, misery, misfortune, pain.
Antonyms: advantage, aid, assistance, benefit, blessing.

9. Wade [weyd] : पानी में खेलना
Verb: to walk in water, when partially immersed; to play in water; to walk through water, snow, sand, or any other substance that impedes free motion or offers resistance to movement.
Noun: an act or instance of wading.
Synonyms: bathe, paddle, splash, stumble, trek, attack, attempt, drudge, ford.
Antonyms: avoid, be lazy, conclude, dodge.

Example: The Supreme Court on Monday agreed with the government’s proposal of five eminent medical practitioners to oversee the functioning and decisions of the Medical Council of India.

10. Eminent [em-uh-nuh nt] : प्रख्यात
Adjective: high in station, rank, or repute; prominent; distinguished; conspicuous, signal, or noteworthy; lofty; high.
Synonyms: name, distinguished, esteemed, famed, high-ranking, illustrious, noted, outstanding, preeminent, prominent, renowned, well-known.
Antonyms: common, inconspicuous, inferior, insignificant.
