Success Story of Priya Singh Selected As SBI PO

I’d like to thank the team for their constant support to the candidates- in form of classes, updates, and strategies. Now coming to my preparation strategy:

Prelims– I started my preparation around July. I gave myself 1 month to know about any new concepts and ways of solving that I might not be familiar with. I watched topic-wise videos on reasoning and Quants chapters basically to brush up my knowledge. The main aim of this was to know if there were any new methods or something I might not be familiar with. After watching 2-3 videos on each topic, I used to solve the previous year’s questions based on that topic. I went through these videos from 2/3 youtube channels including Adda247. I also went through the videos of full-length mock solving from Adda247. The main aim was to see the process of arriving at answers within a shorter time. After July, I started with mocks. First, I gave topic-wise mocks for separate sections. I started with my full-length prelims mock test around mid-August. Since I was working full time, I used to give mocks after my work. I tried my best to give 1 full-length mock every day but if somehow I didn’t get 1 complete hour free, I solved mains level puzzles, DI those days. I made sure I was able to solve at least 4 mocks in a week. I didn’t have to prepare for English separately since I was already a reader and used to read a lot of novels and watch TV series (not binge-watching, mainly during having food). This was pretty much my prelims strategy.

Mains– I started with my GA preparation first around June since it would involve revision. I started watching daily CA videos of Ashish sir. Since I had my full-time IT job, time was of utmost importance to me and I realized it’s not feasible for me to read so lengthy magazine with facts and figures, highlight that and revise it multiple times. So I made the decision to stick with Ashish sir’s videos only. However, I’d still advise the candidates who’ve time and are preparing full time to keep two sources. If I missed a video someday, I’d complete it the next day. The reason I made this decision was that I saw the energy with which Ashish sir taught the class as opposed to mere facts telling my other channels. Also, the continuous repetition of previous CA in present classes reduced my effort to revise. Also, the videos on govt schemes and any recent happenings were interesting and to the point. I realized that with the amount of time I have on my hands, this is the only way I’d be able to remember the details. I am really grateful to him for his efforts in making sure that we do well. I also sometimes used to attend daily Quiz on the Adda247 app. On weekends, I went through the weekly MCQ pdfs by Ashish sir to revise.
As for Quants and Reasoning, I couldn’t give full-length mocks because I didn’t have 3 continuous hours to do that. I solved the main level puzzles and DI every day. I started solving them before prelims itself. Even if I was not able to solve them at that time, I made sure I solved them after the test. This, I used to do every day. I gave one full-length mock a few days before mains to know the process and descriptive interface. English again, I didn’t prepare specifically because it was my strong domain. I relied only on mocks for this.

For Descriptive Test– I watch Adda247 videos by Udisha Ma’am to be sure of the format and know if there’re any tips. I’d like to point out here that the exam’s interface is very weird so candidates must practice giving the descriptive test atleast once through a mock. The cursor sometimes becomes irresponsive and before we notice it, there is mismanagement of everything we just wrote. Revision becomes extremely important here to correct spelling mistakes.
