1. Huddle [huhd-l] =भीड़

  • Verb: to gather or crowd together in a close mass; to crouch, curl up, or draw oneself together; Football. to get together in a huddle.
  • Noun: a closely gathered group, mass, or heap; bunch.
  • Synonyms: disorganized
  • bunch, chaos, cluster, clutter, confab, conference, confusion, disarray, discussion, disorder, gathering, group, heap, jumble.
  • Antonyms: arrangement, calm, harmony, individual.

Example/उदाहरण: The top-level discussions could be a precursor to some relief measures that may be announced as early as Friday when the GST Council meets in the capital, as the discussions stretched till late evening, compelling Mr. Jaitley to skip the World Economic Forum’s India Economic Summit.

2. Precursor [pri-kur-ser, pree-kur-] =अग्रगामी

  • Noun: a person or thing that precedes, as in a job, a method, etc.; predecessor; a person, animal, or thing that goes before and indicates the approach of someone or something else; harbinger.
  • Synonyms: or event beforehand
  • forerunner, harbinger, herald, messenger, outrider, usher, vanguard.

Example/उदाहरण: Lightning kills six in Mysuru district; downpour worsens traffic snarls in Garden City.

3. Downpour [doun-pawr, -pohr] =मूसलधार बारिश

  • Noun: a heavy, drenching rain.
  • Synonyms: deluge, flood, monsoon, rainstorm, storm, cloudburst, inundation, drencher, torrential rain.
  • Antonym: sprinkle.

4. Snarl [snahrl] =गिरह

  • Verb: to growl threateningly or viciously, especially with a raised upper lip to bare the teeth, as a dog; to speak in a surly or threatening manner suggestive of a dog’s snarl.
  • Noun: the act of snarling; a snarling sound or utterance.
  • Synonyms: bark, growl, mutter, abuse, bluster, bully, complain, fulminate, gnarl, mumble, murmur, quarrel, snap, threaten, thunder, yelp.
  • Antonyms: approve, commend, compliment, defend.

Example/उदाहरण: A subsequent tweet by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj carried the news of the amnesty, but did not mention the role played by the Chief Minister of Kerala, leading to questions about jurisdiction of the State in such matters.

5. Amnesty [am-nuh-stee] =सर्व-क्षमा

  • Noun: a general pardon for offenses, especially political offenses, against a government, often granted before any trial or conviction; Law. an act of forgiveness for past offenses, especially to a class of persons as a whole; a forgetting or overlooking of any past offense.
  • Verb: to grant amnesty to; pardon.
  • Synonyms: forgiveness, immunity, reprieve, absolution, condonation, dispensation.

Example/उदाहरण: Also, are we moving towards tri-service integration or consolidation?

6. Consolidation [kuh n-sol-i-dey-shuh n] =समेकन

  • Noun: an act or instance of consolidating; the state of being consolidated; unification; solidification; strengthening; something that is or has been consolidated; a consolidated whole.
  • Synonyms: merger, strengthening, unification, alliance, amalgamation, association, coalition, compression, concentration, condensation, federation, fusion, incorporation, merging, reinforcement, solidification.
  • Antonyms: division, separation, antagonism, disassociation.

Example/उदाहरण: After much deliberation, the consensus has veered towards a Permanent Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CoSC), a four ,  officer equivalent to the three service chiefs, while ideally what the country needs is a full-fledged five ,  officer.

7. Veer [veer] 

  • Verb: to change direction or turn about or aside; shift, turn, or change from one course, position, inclination, etc., to another; to change direction clockwise; Nautical. to shift to a direction more nearly astern; to alter the direction or course of; turn.
  • Noun: a change of direction, position, course, etc.
  • Synonyms: bend, deflect, depart, deviate, diverge, divert, drift, pivot, shift, skid, swerve, swing, twist, whirl, avert, bear.
  • Antonyms: keep to, stay, straighten, go direct.

Example/उदाहरण: Incrementalism doesn’t always work; sometimes a giant leap is the need of the hour.

8. Incrementalism [in-kruh-men-tl-iz-uh m, ing-] =परिवर्तन करने की नीति

  • Noun: a policy of making changes, especially social changes, by degrees; gradualism.

Example/उदाहरण: Also, while the threat of war stills exists in the subcontinent under the nuclear overhang, the room for large conventional maneuvers is over.

9. Maneuver [muh-noo-ver] =पैंतरेबाज़ी

  • Noun: a planned and regulated movement or evolution of troops, warships, etc; maneuvers, a series of tactical exercises usually carried out in the field by large bodies of troops in simulating the conditions of war; an act or instance of changing the direction of a moving ship, vehicle, etc., as required.
  • Verb: to change the position of (troops, ships, etc.) by a maneuver; to bring, put, drive, or make by maneuvers; to manipulate or manage with skill or adroitness.
  • Synonyms: action, gimmick, manipulation, measure, movement, plot, ploy, procedure, ruse, scheme, step, stunt, trick, angle, artifice, contrivance, demarche, device, dodge.
  • Antonyms: cessation, ignorance, inaction, inactivity.

10. Metamorphose [met-uh-mawr-fohz, -fohs] =कायापलट

  • Verb: to change the form or nature of; transform; to subject to metamorphosis or metamorphism.
  • Synonyms: mutate, transmute, age, alter, change, commute, develop, diverge, mature, remake, remodel, reshape, ripen, transfigure, translate, transmogrify.
  • Antonyms: continue, keep, remain, stay, stagnate.
